PURPOSE:To machine all ridge line sections of a gear after heat-treatment, simultaneously, by using a grinding pinion for grinding ridge lines at which the addenda and tooth flanks of the gear cross with each other, and a grinding pinion for grinding ridge lines at which the gear end faces and tooth flanks of the gear cross with each other. CONSTITUTION:The tooth surfaces 2 of a first grinding pinion 1 are in a shape given by an involute curve while the tooth bottom surfaces 3 thereof have a cross-section shape composed of a V-like inclined surfaces. Ultra abrasive grain such as, for example, diamond, CBN or the like are electroplated on the bottom surfaces 3. Further, the tooth flanks 10 of a second grinding pinion 9 is in a shape given by an involute curve, the thickness of the teeth being reduced toward the widthwise center thereof so that the teeth have a centrally concaved shape. Further, ultra abrasive grain such as, for example, diamond, CBN or the like is electroplated on the tooth flanks 10 so that a second abrasive surface 11 is formed. Accordingly, the grinding pinions 1, 9 are meshed with a gear to be ground, and therefore, ridge line section in the tooth line direction and ridge line sections on the gear end face sides are simultaneously ground.
