PURPOSE:To provide the titled compsn. having excellent flame retardance, particularly excellent resistance to fire particle dropping during combustion, excellent mechanical properties and discoloration resistance during residence in molding, by blending an arom. polyester with an organobromine compd., Sb2O3, sepiolite and an alkoxysilane. CONSTITUTION:An arom. dicarboxylic acid (ester forming derivative) is condensed with a diol (ester forming derivative) to obtain an arom. polyester (A) having a relative viscosity of 1.15-2.0 (in 0.5% o-chlorophenol soln. at 25 deg.C). 100pts. (by weight; the same applies hereinbelow) component A is blended with 1-60pts. organobromine compd. (B) having a bromine content of 20% or above (e.g., a brominated polycarbonate), 1-40pts. Sb2O3 (C), 0.5-100pts. sepiolite (D) having an average fiber length of 1-100mu, an average fiber diameter of 0.01-0.5mu and an aspect ratio of 10 or above, mainly composed of hydrated magnesium silicate of formula I and 0.001-5pts. alkoxysilane (E) of formula II [wherein R<6> is a 1-20 C org. group (having S, O, N, etc.); R<7> is a 1-15 C hydrocarbon group; n is 0-3]. |
