PURPOSE:To form the pipe end part which can easily connect a pipe each other with good accuracy by cooling the pipe end part by working it in the prescribed outer diameter with a pipe expander after raising its temp. to the temp. that the elastic coefficient is reduced. CONSTITUTION:UOE steel pipe 1 is subjected to a temp. up to about 700 deg.C when the elastic coefficient is reduced by feeding it to a heating furnace 2 by moving with a transfer roller 3. Then, the pipe end part is cooled by a cooling device 7 by forming it in a right circular state by pulling a cone 5 out, by fixing a segment jaw 4 by inserting a mechanical pipe expander. In this case, the pipe end of one part is set to the pipe outer diameter size and the outer diameter of the other end side is increased by the pipe thickness. The pipe each other can therefore be connected with good efficiency by inserting the both, because of the pipe end parts for inner insertion and for outer insertion being formed with good accuracy.
