PURPOSE:To obtain an excellent finished surface by cutting, by containing specific wt% WC, Co, TiC and/or TaC while compound of Zr in the edge point of a cutting tool so that adhesion between steel and the tool is suppressed. CONSTITUTION:Cutting steel, which contains by wt% 80 or less WC, 5-25 Co, 50 or less TiC and/or TaC while 5-50 one or two kinds or more of oxide, nitride, carbide and carbonitride of Zr, is mounted to the edge point part of tool. Each addition of TiC and TaC is adjusted in accordance with a use and set to 50% or less with the both altogether. Added Zr acts with Mn sulfuret in the steel to form a manganese sulfuret film on a surface of the tool, and finished surface toughness by cutting is improved.
