PURPOSE:A flame-retardant resin composition having improved mechanical properties and heat stability, comprising a thermoplastic polyester, a flame- retardant containing an organic halogen compound and an alkoxysilane compound. CONSTITUTION:The aimed composition comprising (A) 100pts.wt. block copolymer consisting of a thermoplastic polyester such as PETP, preferably 80-99pts. wt. PETP and 1-20pts.wt. diol shown by formula I (X is group shown by formula II, SO2 CO or O; R is <=3C alkylene; n and m are 5-15), (B) 5-50pts. wt. organic halogen compound (aromatic compound containing a halogen directly bonded to aromatic ring) and, if necessary, an antimony compound (preferably sodium antimonate, etc.) and (C) 0.05-10wt% based on the composition of an alkoxysilane compound selected from an aminosilane compound and an epoxysilane compound as main components, obtained by adding the component C to the components A and B which are being blended while stirring.
