PURPOSE:To plan a reduction of fluid loss, by composing the scavenging hole portion of a cylinder liner with an outer cylinder fixed to the cylinder liner and enclosing a variable nozzle device, and an inner cylinder inserted movably along the inner periphery side of the outer cylinder in axial direction of the liner. CONSTITUTION:At a position below a cylinder liner 2, an outer cylinder 6 fixed to the liner 2 and enclosing a variable nozzle device 4 etc. is provided and an inner cylinder 5, which is inserted slindably in the axial direction of cylinder liner 2 at an inner periphery side of the outer cylinder 6 is provided. The surroundings of the outer cylinder 6 is enclosed in half open state by an engine frame 12 to form a scavenging chamber 8, and at the same time the outer cylinder 6 is formed by combining, in one body, an upper portion through which the nozzle spindle 9 of a variable nozzle 4 pierces with a lower portion serving as the guide of inner cylinder 5 by means of plural number of a rib 7 so that a scavenging passage is formed between the upper and lower portions. Moreover, the inner cylinder 5 is lifted or lowered by a driving mechanism not shown in an illustration, and the scavenging passage 11 can be opened and closed by the above process.
