PURPOSE:To attain the low power consumption and high accuracy of an A/D converter by using a capacitance voltage division circuit so as to divide lots of comparison reference voltages. CONSTITUTION:Lots of voltage comparator circuits CP1-CPn and an encoder 2 are provided. Comparison reference voltages V1-Vn of stepwise different levels are given respectively to each non-inverting input (+) of the comparators CP1-CPn and an analog input voltage Vin is given to each other input (-) in common. In order to obtain the lots of reference voltages V1-Vn, the capacitance voltage division circuit 1 comprising lots of series connection capacitive elements C1, C1... is provided, and the capacitive voltage division circuit 1 divides a prescribed reference voltage Vref into lots of the comparison reference voltage V1-Vn different stepwise by the capacitance. Thus, the low power consumption and high accuracy are attained compatibly.
