PURPOSE:To make it possible to perform adjustment readily with the shape and size of a workpiece by arranging plural sets of jaws moving radially at a symmetrical position in relation to the workpiece and by providing adjusting pieces freely attachable and detachable so as to be layered radially. CONSTITUTION:To chuck a workpiece, oil is poured into a cylinder 3 through an oil port 12 to advance a rod 6. This also advances a jaw 9 through a disk 8, and the jaw 9 slides on the slide face of a housing 10 to approach radially. To release the workpiece, oil is poured through an oil port 13 to separate the jaw 9. To cope with large workpieces, a connecting instrument is extracted from the front side of a chucking device 1 to remove a proper number of adjusting pieces 16 and fixes the workpiece. To cope with small workpieces, adjusting pieces are added. The workpiece is placed on a pallet 31 on a plate 25 vertically moving by means of a handle 26 engaging with the tapped hole of a bracket 23.
