[Also in Divisions B8 and F1] A pressure-reducing valve forming part of a beverage dispenser (see Division F 1) has a precision bore 30 with a valve shank 29 sliding in it, the valve shank having a slight radial clearance with the bore. Attached to the valve shank is a hollow pull rod 28 which passes through an 0-ring seal 27 and a bush 26 which serves as a seat for the 0-ring. The 0-ring seals between the pull rod 28 and the bore. The low pressure end of the pull rod is attached to a membrane mount 24 so that if the pressure rises and deflects the membrane, the pull rod draws the valve shank against the O-ring, thus closing the valve. Pressure adjustment is by a knob (9), which controls the loading on a spring 23.</p> |
