PURPOSE:To improve the detecting performance for the angular displacement and angular speed of a rotating body by forming projecting teeth to be formed to a revolution detecting element into rectangular teeth and selecting the tooth thickness thereof to adequate values. CONSTITUTION:Rectangular teeth 18 having the tooth thickness equal to tooth depth are provided at a specified pitch on the outside circumference of a revolution detecting element 12. The teeth 18 have tooth crests 20 and respective parallel tooth side faces 22. The respective faces 22 are formed in parallel with the centerline in a radial direction running from the central point of the element 12 through the center of the teeth 18, and the tooth thicknesses (T) of the respective teeth 18 on the pitch circle of the tooth profile are formed equal. If the teeth 18 are formed to the element 12 in such a way and is disposed to face a stationary detecting element 10, closed magnetic fluxes phi1, phi2 are formed between both elements 10 and 12 by the magnetic field generating means in the element 10. When the element 12 rotates together with a rotating body, the tooth crests 20 of the respective teeth 18 and the roots between the teeth 18 pass alternately through the position facing the element 10 through a gap GP, and a change in the magnetic flux density is produced in the magnetic fluxes phi1 and phi2. |
