PURPOSE:To accept immediately the start issued to an external memory device from a central processing unit CPU by reporting a 'busy' state to the start issued to the external memory device to be diagnosed from the CPU, then reporting a 'use-end' state to the CPU when the processing is through by a controller during the run of a diagnosis program. CONSTITUTION:The diagnosis microprogram bits are provided to the control information 'AVAIL' and 'DEP' which are stored in a controller 2. Thus a 'busy' state of a disk device to be diagnosed is reported to a CPU 1 against the start issued from the CPU 1 which is under execution of the diagnosis microprogram. Then an end interruption can be fed to the CPU 1 when said diagnosis microprogram 1 is through. As a result, the start issued from the CPU 1 can be immediately accepted when a certain routine of the diagnosis microprogram is through. In such a way the disturbance against the on-line jobs is reduced greatly. |
