PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material which has sharp thermal response and well retains an image for a long time by containing specific compounds as a developer and further 2-benzyl thionaphthalene. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal recording material containing, normally a colorless or pale-color dye precursor and a developer which forms a color in said dye precursor, a compound shown by a general formula (I) as a developer is allowed to be contained, and so is further a 2-benzyl thionaphthalene. As a result, a thermal recording material having sharp thermal response and capable of retaining an image for a long time is obtained. As typical examples of compounds shown by a general formula (I), 4-hydroxy-4'-methyldiphenyl sulfone 4-benzyloxy-4'-hydroxydiphenyl sulfone, etc. are named. Normally, each 5wt% or more, preferably 10-600wt% of compound and 2-benzyl thionaphthalene is added to ordinary dye precursors. |
