PURPOSE:To make it possible to control the line pressure certainly, so as to raise the precision and stability of control of the change gear ratio, by converting the change gear ratio into the oil pressure through using a change gear ratio detecting valve, and inputting the oil pressure into a line pressure regulating valve. CONSTITUTION:When the oil pressure which is input into a driving pulley cylinder chamber 20 and a driven pulley cylinder chamber 32, varies for varying the change gear ratio, the movable parts of these pulleys move to move axially a change gear ratio detecting member 140. The movement of this change gear ratio detecting member 140 is transmitted to a change gear ratio detecting valve 108 through a spring, and pressure corresponding to change gear ratio is generated, as the output of this valve 108. This pressure corresponding to change gear ratio is input into a line pressure regulating valve 102, and as a result, the line pressure varies in response to the change gear ratio. As the line pressure regulating valve 102 is controlled by oil pressure, generated error is reduced, and consequently, the change gear ratio can be controlled precisely and stably.
