PURPOSE:To perform automatic regulation of draw, by a method wherein a draw set circuit is mounted in a dancer roll control loop, draw set value itself is changed only by an amount equal to a correction amount of a dancer roll by means of the control loop. CONSTITUTION:While an external draw regulating signal 5 is inputted to a draw set circuit 1, a draw set signal 12 being an output therefrom is regulated. The signal 12 and a paper making speed master instruction 8 are multiplied by a multiplier ML, and the result is a paper making speed set value 6 containing draw set. By means of the external draw regulating signal 5, manual draw responding to a paper making speed master instruction 8 signal is regulated. A deviation electric amount detected by a deviation detector 3 is converted into a dancer roll speed correction signal 7 by a dancer roll controller 4, the correction signal produces a draw set regulating signal of the draw set circuit 1, and the draw set value signal 12 being an output signal from the draw set circuit 1 is automatically regulated until a dancer roll 2 is adjusted to a specified position.
