PURPOSE:To improve an S/N, and to remove the generation of excessive modulation and moire or the like by strengthening upper and lower sidebands waves centering a carrier frequency in a recording side, and performing a signal processing for suppressing the strengthened upper and lower sidebands waves in a reproducing side. CONSTITUTION:After a video signal in which a high frequency component is emphasized in a video emphasis circuit circuit 10 is converted into an FM signal, the level of the lower sideband wave is emphasized along an optimum current characteristic by an equalizer 12 and the level of the upper sideband wave is suppressed, further, the signal processing for raising the level as the deflection of the frequency of the upper and lower sidebands waves becomes larger centering the carrier frequency in an equalizer 13, and it is supplied to a recording amplifier 14. Thereby, the S/N ratio of the FM signal is improved, the upper and lower sidebands waves are returned to the level of the FM signal during recording by reproducing equalizers 16, 17 during reproducing and supplied to a limiter 18, and the video signal is reproduced by a demodulator 19, so that even when the level of the sideband wave above secondary becomes larger in the recording side, causes for an inversion phenomenon, the moire or the like can be removed.
