PURPOSE:To obtain a filter extremely excellent from the aspect of the ignition temp. and combustion rate of a particulate and also excellent in trapping efficiency, by coating a honeycomb-shaped filter with alumina and applying copper plating thereto before supporting a platinum group element. CONSTITUTION:An alumina coating layer 6 is formed to a honeycomb-shaped filter and copper plating is applied to the parts 6a, 6b of said alumina coating layer 6 and at least one catalytic metal of a platinum group element is supported by the part corresponding to the front side 6a of the honeycomb- shaped filter. As the catalytic metal of the platinum group element, platinum, palladium and rhodium are pref. In order to still more enhance the combustibility of a particulate, an electric heater is pref. provided to the honeycomb-shaped filter so as to be closely contacted with the front surface thereof. |
