To enable the colour of a sheath to be changed during the extrusion process without stopping the production line and avoiding to a large extent the production of waste material, the device comprises a twin-layer extrusion head (3), fed with different coloured material by two extrusion machines (A, B) by means of a dispenser (4). The latter comprises a rotary plug (50), with direct channels (51, 52) and reverse channels (53, 54), as well as bleed channels (55 to 58). By rotating the plug the supply to the inlet ducts (31, 32) of the extrusion head is interchanged, thus changing over the colours of the inner layer (81) and outer layer (82) of the sheath. The colour in the extruding machine feeding the inner layer can be changed without producing any waste material.
