PURPOSE:To prevent the omission of printing and also the lowering of printing quality by a method in which the time when the joint of an ink supply sheet is passed through a thermal head is detected by a mark provided on the ink supply sheet, and printing during the period is avoided. CONSTITUTION:Ink is packed into the holes 2 of an ink supply sheet 1 passing through an ink tank and reaches a thermal head 4. At the position of a head 4, the sheet 1 is in contact with the heating element of the head 4. Under the condition, when voltage is applied to the head 4, the heating element is abruptly energized electrically, bubbles are generated in the interface with ink in the holes 2 of the sheet 1, and the ink is jetted from the holes 2. The ink droplets so jetted are adhered to a recording paper 8 for recording. In this case, a position detecting hole 3 is detected by a luminous element 11 and a light receiving element 12 provided in the pat of the sheet 1, the time when the joint 1a passes through the head 4 is detected, and during the period, printing is temporarily discontinued. After the joint 1a passed through the head 4, printing is restarted. |
