PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration of picture quality by recording signals so that the 1st color difference signals and the 2nd color difference signals are arranged between adjacent tracks thereby eliminating the reproduction of different kind of FM color difference signals as crosstalk. CONSTITUTION:In selecting a distance (c) between an upper rotary head HS1 or HM2 and a lower rotary head HM1 or HS2, the track width, and a tape running speed, the H arrangement recording where the horizontal synchronizing signal recording positions to tracks recorded with two adjacent information signals are arranged in track width direction is attained. Recording FM line sequential color difference signals of 1H section in track width direction for two adjacent tracks TC1 and TC2, TC3 and TC4 have the field correlatively, then the signals have nearly the same frequency and the beat frequency due to the crosstalk from the adjacent tracks is zero or close to zero. Thus, the effect of crosstalk is almost eliminated.
