PURPOSE:To attain a speedy sector alternate action without a corresponding table, etc., by recording the address of a defective sector and recorded information in an alterntive sector on the same track and making the address reproduction from the defective sector impossible. CONSTITUTION:A CPU 1 starts a data recording part 4, which modulates recorded information from a sector buffer 5 with the aid of the output of a sector detection part 2 and transmits a recording signal 105 to a disk drive device 3. If a drive error is detected to stop a recording action, a target sector is considered to be a defective one, and the address reproduction from the defective sector is made impossible. In terms of sector array on a target sector, the address reproduction of a normal sector having a defective part in an address part or a data field becomes impossible, whereby it is identified to be a defective sector, and simultaneously an alternative sector is discriminated as an alternative one having the address the same as a normal sector. Accordingly the information to be recorded in a normal sector is recorded in an alternative sector.
