PURPOSE:To obtain an excellent electromagnetic conversion characteristic by constituting the joint parts of a pair of core half bodies of magnetic metallic films and remaining parts of single crystal ferrites and specifying the crystal orientation of the boundary faces thereof to change the same to etch pit faces in the stage of joining said core half bodies via a magnetic gap to form a magnetic head core. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic head core is constituted of the core half body 10 formed of a winding groove 14 on the joint surface and the core half body 10' joined to the body 10 via the very small magnetic gap G. The joint surfaces of the bodies 10 and 10' in the above-mentioned constitution are both constituted of the magnetic metallic films 11, 11' consisting of 'Sendust(R)' or the like having a high saturation flux density and the parts continuous therewith are constituted of the single crystal ferrites 12, 12' such as Mn-Zn having large specific electric resistance. Faces except (100) face, (010) face and (001) face are selected for the crystal orientation faces of the ferrites 12, 12' facing boundary parts 13, 13' thereof and are changed to etch pit faces. The components in parallel with the gap G are thereby entirely eliminated and the pseudo gap effect is suppressed.
