The invention relates to an opto-electronic switch especially with a power threshold, its method of manufacture and its control method. This opto-electronic switch comprises: an optical guide comprising a guide layer 21 interposed between a first and a second substrate 2, 19, a first and a second electrode 5, 7 deposited on the guide layer 21 and spaced in such a way as to form an inter-electrode space 11, means 10 for applying a supply voltage to the first electrode 5 and a periodic structure coupling member 23 engraved into the guide layer, at least in the inter-electrode space. This switch makes it possible to establish, under the effect of a light beam 13, electrical conduction between the first and second electrodes, this conduction appearing abruptly as from an incident light intensity threshold. The invention applies particularly to the field of instrumentation of laser systems. <IMAGE>
