Low-molecular-weight (meth)acrylate polymers containing essentially alpha , omega -terminal hydroxyl groups and having a hydroxyl group equivalent weight of from 500 to 5,000 are obtained by polymerising (meth)acrylates and, if desired, copolymerisable monomers in the presence of an initiator which is capable of transferring hydroxyl groups onto the polymer molecule, and in the presence of regulators of the formula HO-A-Sx-B-OH in which A and B are each a divalent organic radical and X is >/= 2. Through reaction with diisocyanates, the hydroxy-functional (meth)acrylate polymers give prepolymers containing isocyanate end groups, from which moisture-curing, preferably transparent adhesives and sealants can be produced.
|
