PURPOSE:To enable a smaller and lighter printer to be obtained, by enclosing a paper-releasing mechanism in a hollow shaft for rotatably supporting a hollow platen. CONSTITUTION:For a paper-releasing operation, a reciprocating rod cover 9 is pushed to move a reciprocating rod 5 leftward, whereby a tapered part 5a of the rod 5 is moved to tip parts of push-out pins 12 and pushes support plates 14 for paper bail rollers 13 through the pins 12. As a result, the support plates 14 are opened outward, with shafts 15 as centers, thereby separating the paper bail rollers 13 from a platen 1. When canceling the paper release, the pressure exerted on the cover 9 is removed, whereby the reciprocating rod 5 is moved rightward by the force of a compression spring 10, the pins 12 are disengaged from the tapered part 5a of the rod 5, and the paper bail rollers 13 are pressed against the platen 1 by a tension spring 16. Accordingly, a smaller and lighter printer can be constructed. |
