PURPOSE:To absorb sounds generated on a platen and reduce noise, by providing wound yarn layers on an outer periphery of a rotary shaft, with the yarns in the layers being inclined alternately in opposite directions and a gap being provided between adjacent loops of the wound yarn in each layer, and fixing a platen surface layer member to the outer peripherals surface of the wound yarn layers, thereby forming a platen. CONSTITUTION:A platen comprises a rotary shaft 11, wound yarn layers 14 and a platen surface layer member 15 as essential component members. The wound yarn layers 14 are provided by winding a yarn 14a in layers, with the yarns in the layers being inclined alternately in opposite directions at angles of inclination such as alphaand beta, and a gap (g) being provided between adjacent loops of the wound yarn in each of the layers (namely, the loops of the wound yarn is not orthogonal to the axis of the rotary shaft 11 and the adjacent loops do not make close contact with each other). The wound yarn layers 14 are provided on an outer periphery of the rotary shaft 11 so that the length of the finished wound yarn layers in the axial direction of the platen is sufficiently greater than a printing range. In this platen, the impact sounds generated on the platen surface layer member 15 at the time of a printing operation of a printer are attenuated through absorption thereof by the wound yarn 14a and voids in the wound yarn layers 14. |
