NEW MATERIAL:N-(4-Formylphenyl)carbazole expressed by formula I and N-(beta- phenylstyryl-4-phenyl) carbazole expressed by formula II. USE:Useful as an organic photoconductive material for electrophotography, fluorescent brightening agent, etc., especially as the organic photoconductive material. PREPARATION:A diphenyl compound expressed by formula III [Y represents triphenylphosphonium group expressed by formula IV (Z is halogen atom) or dialkyl phosphite group expressed by the formula -PO(OR)2 (R is lower alkyl)] and N-(4-formylphenyl)carbazole expressed by formula I are subjected to condensation reaction in an appropriate solvent in the presence of a basic catalyst at room temperature-about 100 deg.C to obtain a compound expressed by formula II. The compound expressed by formula I is synthesized by reducing N-(4- cyanophenyl)carbazole. |
