PROCESS FOR PREPARING CRYSTALLINE BYDROCHLORIDE SALT OF CEPHALEXIN MONOHYDRATE

Crystalline hydrochloride salt of cephalexin monohydrate is prepd. for use as an antibiotic. 7.0g of hydrochloride is dissolved in 100ml of anhydrous methanol. 35.2g of cephalexin monohydrate is dissolved in the HCl-methanol soln.. After 15mins, the soln. begins to form crystalline salt. Afer 3hrs, this soln. is filtered and washed with methanol. This crystalline is exposed to the air for 3 days to give crystallin hydrochloride salt of cephalexin monohydrate.
