PURPOSE:To industrially and advantageously obtain the titled compound useful as an antihypertensive agent, by reacting N-carboxy anhydride of N-[1(S)- ethoxycarbonyl-3-L-phenylpropyl]-L-alanine with L-proline in the presence of a base. CONSTITUTION:N-Carboxy anhydride of N-[1(S)-ethoxycarbonyl-3-phenylpropyl]- L-alanine is reacted with L-proline in the presence of a base, preferably hydroxide, carbonate or bicarbonate of an alkali metal, secondary amine, tertiary amine or quaternary ammonium hydroxide, preferably in a mixed solvent of an organic solvent, e.g. acetone, dioxane, THF or acetonitrile, and water while keeping the pH at constant value 9-10 to afford the aimed compound. |
