The invention relates to the suspension of a non-driven vehicle rear axle by dint of at least one parabolic single-leaf spring suspended at both ends in the longitudinal direction/direction of travel, which towards the compression side is elastically limited in its spring travel by a support element and at its rear end in the direction of travel is suspended in a spring shackle for constraint-free length adjustment. The spring in such a case serves both as a spring- and as a wheel-suspension element, especially also in the case of a fracture of the spring. The object of the invention is to ensure that the spring occurs not in the front spring arm, that is between the front end of the single-leaf spring in the direction of travel and the vehicle rear axle, but in the rear spring arm opposite. In such a case the front spring arm can act satisfactorily in tension as a trailing arm for the vehicle rear axle. This is achieved in that between the front end of the single-leaf spring in the direction of travel and the vehicle rear axle, that is opposite the front spring arm, an additional buffer is arranged in the suspension travel. The additional buffer is preferably arranged somewhat opposite the longitudinal centre of the front spring arm.
