Chocolate-flavoured drink, principally based on milk and chocolate, packaged in a container, ready to be heated, characterised in that at a temperature of 0-30@C and after a sufficient period of time after its manufacture, it is in the form of a pasty product without lumps and virtually free from solid particulate deposits at the bottom of the container, in that by heating it in a container at a temperature above approximately 35@C, it is in the form of a homogeneous liquid, without any supernatant fat globules and without any notable deposit of solid particles at the bottom of the container, and in that it can be sterilised and then retains the properties referred to above for a period of at least six months from its date of manufacture. This drink can be prepared by mixing together the ingredients with the application of heat, mechanically homogenising the mixture under pressure so that the fat globules do not exceed approximately 15 mu m at the end of the mechanical homogenisation stage, and distributing this mixture into suitable containers. Before distributing the mixture into the containers, which are for example plastic bottles or cartons, it can be pasteurised or sterilised. After simply heating this drink it is ready to be consumed.
