PURPOSE:To prevent stacked sheets of paper from slipping during insertion with the use of a simple structure, by advancing movable guides to adjust stacked paper sheets to the positions of the paper guides just before thereof, and by starting the operation of a mechanism composed of a spring, a ratchet, etc. to retract the paper sheets. CONSTITUTION:A bracket 13 is pulled backward by means of a spring 23 when a paper feed device 1 for a bisurface copying machine, is pulled out, and therefore, an actuating piece 14 is separated so that a latch 11 is meshed with a ratchet 9. Accordingly, a movable guide 3 is advanced overcoming a spring 7 to adjust loaded sheets of paper to the leading edge of the guide so that a pulley 4 is rotated by means of a cable 6 while it is prevented from reversely rotating and retracting due to the provision of the latch 11. When a sheet of paper is introduced into the copying machine, a shaft 18 is urged to a side plate and therefore, advanced, but is braked by means of a gear 16, a damper 17 and a spring 23 so that the guide 13 prevent the paper sheets from slipping. The bracket 13 is gradually moved by means of a spring 21, and the latch 11 is released by means of the actuating piece 14 so that the guide 3 is retracted by means of the spring 7 through the cable 6, thereby it is possible to prevent a new sheet of paper from entering. |
