The gas compression switch has two sets of outer contacts (1,2), one of which slides. There is an inner fixed spoke (6) into which an inner contact (7) slides, after outer contacts (10) have been made. A rear rod (8) pushes the inner mechanism forward in an inner chamber (11), and an inner cylindrical section (15) compresses the gas in the chamber during the closure process.
