An airtoil (10), having a trailing edge flap assembly (18) comprising a flap member (20) which in its stowed position is located above a fixed mounting structure (22). There is a rear pivot link (26) connected at its lower end (42) to the mounting structure (22) and by its upper end (44) to an aft portion of the flap (20). There is a forward slideway (40) by which the forward part (32) of the flap (20) is mounted for longitudinal slide motion relative to the fixed mounting structure (22). The flap (20) has a stowed position in the rear portion (16) of the wing (10), and is movable rearwardly with substantial Fowler motion to an intermediate position for take-off, and movable further rearwardly to a fully extended position where the flap (20) extends rearwardly and downwardly for take-off. |
