PURPOSE:To improve flatness of a magnetic disk surface by making pressure distribution over a pressure application part for a machining tape uniform as well as preventing lateral deviation of the machining tape. CONSTITUTION:On a surface of a disk-like work 2 held and rotated by a holder 1 at the inner circumference of the work is applied pressure by pressing a machining tape 3 via a flat-surfaced machining head 11 supported by a pressure spring 4. While supplying machining fluid 6, the machining tape is moved in the radial direction of the work to machine entire surface. Adjustment of the machining tape tension is made by controlling the voltage applied to a torque motor 12. This makes it possible to machine the surface of a magnetic disk aluminum base plate with flatness accurate to 0.02-0.1mum. |
