<p>A primary station using beamforming and sweeping for a common channel and a dedicated channel is provided to offer a fair coverage for both common channel and dedicated channel in a wireless communication system. A primary station(100), communicating with a secondary station(102) through a radio link(104), comprises a wireless up/down converter(106) connected with an adjustable antenna(108). The up/down converter(106) is additionally connected with a control unit(110). The control unit(110) comprises a beamforming unit(112), an Rx signal analysis unit(114), a beam control unit(116), and a central controller(118). The beamforming unit(112) determines a desired beam shape, controls the antenna(108), and forms a beam. The beam control unit(116) controls the antenna(108) to turn the beam toward a desired direction. The Rx signal analysis unit(114) analyzes a signal received from the secondary station(102), determines from which secondary station the signal was transmitted, and analyzes from which way the signal was transmitted. The central controller(118) adjusts the operations of the beamforming unit(112), the Rx signal analysis unit(114), and the beam control unit(116) so that the antenna(108) can be controlled properly.</p> |
