A method of bonding a vulcanisable rubber composition to a metal, in which the composition is vulcanised while in contact with the metal, characterised in that said composition includes a boron oxide-containing substance. The method is applicable, in particular, to the bonding of brass-coated steel filaments to vulcanisable topping compositions in the production of pneumatic tyres. The boron oxide-containing substance is conveniently borax. |
