PURPOSE:To detect easily the disconnection of an optical fiber transmission line by always monitoring a reflection of light, which is generated in a joint part of an optical fiber and an optical connector which have connected two transmission stations. CONSTITUTION:A transmission control part 11 in a transmission station 1 sends out an optical data which has been converted by an electro-optical converter 12, to a transmission station 2 through an optical fiber 3 and an optical connector 4. The transmission station 2 converts said data to an electric signal by an optical-electric converter 23 and inputs it to a transmission control part 21. In this case, a reflection of light is generated in the optical connector 4, and a reflected data is inputted to the transmission control part 11 through an optical/electric converter 13. Also, to the control part 11, a response data from the transmission station 2 is inputted through the same path as the reflection. These two inputs can be discriminated by the time after the transmitting data has been sent out, and it can be judged to be a disconnection of a transmission line, and a fault of the transmission station 2, when both the data are not inputted, and when only the reflected data is inputted, respectively. |
