<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing device and an image processing method that can reduce the stress, resulting from a wait time when an image for three-dimensional display is generated and displayed. <P>SOLUTION: When the image for three-dimensional display is generated and output, image data P(1), P(2), ..., P(N) of a plurality of viewing points are read from among an extended image file F100, generation processing for the image for three-dimensional display is started, and a simple image for three-dimensional display (simple 3D image) is generated, by using representative image data P(d) and distance image data P<SB>D</SB>and output to a monitor 30 or external display device via a display control unit 32. In general, the generation processing for the simple 3D image is completed in a shorter time than the generation processing for the image for three-dimensional display (multi-viewpoint 3D image) by using image data of the plurality of, e.g. three or more viewing points, so the simple 3D image is displayed, before the generation and output processing for the multi-viewpoint 3D image is completed and can reduce the stresses resulting from the waiting time, when the image for three-dimensional display is generated and displayed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
