PURPOSE:To reduce the cost of a liquid crystal cell by constituting the cell in such a manner that the space between scanning electrodes to be disposed on the 2nd substrate corresponding to the approximately central part of the 1st substrate is narrower than the space between the other electrodes formed on the 2nd substrate. CONSTITUTION:Signal electrodes 3 are formed on the 1st substrate 1 and the scanning electrodes 4 are formed on the 2nd substrate 2. More specifically, the inter-wire space E of the scanning electrodes 4 corresponding to the central space C of the signal electrodes 3 is formed slightly narrower than the other space A between the electrodes 4. The wire width F of the electrodes 4 is therefore slightly larger than the other wire width D. The permissible range of deviation is consequently expanded by the above-mentioned constitution. The permissible range for the deviation in the relative positions of both electrodes is thereby expanded, by which the mass productivity is improved and the inexpensive liquid crystal cell having good quality is obtd.
