CARBON MONOXIDE SEPARATING AND ADSORBING AGENT

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled separating and adsorbing agent by which high- purity CO is efficiently separated and recovered with the adsorption from a gas by-produced in the iron manufacture by ion-exchanging zeolite with Ag<+> and thereafter heating and subjecting it to the activation treatment and using it. CONSTITUTION:After exchanging an alkali metallic ion incorporating in a zeolite structure with Ag<+> by an ion exchange method, activated zeolite is obtained by heat-treating it at 200-700 deg.C in the inert atmosphere. High-purity CO can be recovered in the high yield with a pressure swing adsorption method from a gas by-produced in an iron mill by using zeolite obtained by such a way. Also since the adsorption and the desorption are easily performed in the isothermal conditions and the deterioration of the adsorbent is not caused, it is made inexpensive in cost and extremely available. Further a mordenite type is desirable as zeolite and the iron-exchange method may be performed with an ordinary method.
