MOLTEN CARBONATE TYPE FUEL CELL

摘要

PURPOSE:To prevent molten carbonate from touching the manifolds and the manifold seal contact surfaces of the separators thus to prevent corrosion of the seal part by using a material mainly composed of boracic acid system glass as a seal body between the manifolds and the sides of a fuel cell proper. CONSTITUTION:A fuel cell proper 1 comprises laminated plural unit cells 3 through separators 4 between the end plates 2a and 2b. Felts 7a-7d formed of angular and annular alumina fibers are stuck together to the flange parts of manifolds 8a-8d respectively while boracic acid glass powder is applied to the surfaces of said felts 7a-7d. The manifolds 8a-8d provided with said bodies are fitted to each side of the fuel cell proper 1 for forming the fuel cell. The thus constituted fuel cell generates no corrosion even when its temperature is raised up to 650 deg.C while being operated for 200hr.
