PURPOSE:To provide the titled polyethylene resin foam having excellent flexibility and high resistance to chemicals and heat and being, suitable for use as a packing, by expanding and crosslinking a polyethylene copolymer contg. an acrylic comonomer. CONSTITUTION:A polyethylene copolymer having a m.p. of 86-120 deg.C and contg. 2-10wt% comonomer selected from among acrylic acid, methyl methacrylate and maleic acid (anhydride), such as ethylene/methyl methacrylate/maleic anhydride terpolymer is prepd. A blowing agent (e.g. azodicarbonamide) and a crosslinking agent are blended with the terpolymer, and the mixture is expanded and crosslinked to obtain the titled resin foam. the foam has an integrated intensity ratio R of 20-80 according to the carbon isotope NMR spectroscopy as represented by equation I and a flexibility index N of 10 or below defined by equation II.
