PURPOSE:To produce output torque during a time between a low speed and a high speed, by a method wherein an intake pipe is extended in a horizontal direction, a normal passage, bent sideways therefrom, and a high speed passage, connected on the extension of the normal passage and extended to an intake port, are provided. CONSTITUTION:An engine body 1 is a multicylinder engine, and an intake pipe 15 is connected to an intake port, open to the one side of the engine, at each cylinder. In which case, a normal passage 19, extended about horizontally from the engine body 1 toward the car room side and turned over upward at a bent part 17 to be open to a distribution box 18, is formed to the intake pipe 15. Further, a high speed passage 21 is provided for being branched at the bent part 17 from the normal passage 19 and rectilinearly extended on the extension thereof for connection to an auxiliary air distribution box 20. A cross angle between the passages 19 and 21 is set to a range of from 20 deg. to 45 deg. in which the shaft horsepower of a crank shaft is high. Further, a secondary throttle valve 23, opened in the high rotation range of an engine, is situated in the high speed passage 21. |
