PURPOSE:To improve the operability of a terminal by attaining the input of data on a terminal without waiting for the input request given from a host computer. CONSTITUTION:When a terminal is connected to a host computer 11, a transmission means 7 starts a stored character extracting means 4. The means 4 returns the head character of the advance input data if stored in a storage means 5 and displays other characters on an advance input data display means 8 by means of a stored character display means 3. If no advance input data exists, the characters are supplied through an input means 9 via a character input means 1. These characters are returned to a transmission means 7. The means 7 displays these characters on a transmission/reception data display means 10 and starts repetitively the means 4. Then the returned character strings are sent to the computer 11 and a reception means 6 is started when those returned characters are sent back by a carriage.
