PURPOSE:To provide an automatic operation of a cooking stove and enable a positive setting of cooking mode to be achieved by a method wherein an electrical contact point part and a variable resistor part are arranged at a mode setting part for setting a cooking mode in advance and the cooking mode can freely be selected by a cooking knob S. CONSTITUTION:When a desired cooking mode 37 is set in advance by a cooking knob 15 of a mode setting part 14 under a closed condition of a micro-switch 37, a mechanism valve 26 is forcedly kept to be opened or closed in response to the set mode and at the same time this signal is inputted to a control part 22 and outputted to a safety valve 19 of a calorie control part 35 and the control valves 24 and 28. Then, if a pilot burner 10b falls to accidental fine the control part 22 is operated, the safety valve 19 is closed to keep a safety. In this way, a temperature of the item 36 to be cooked is inputted to the control part 22 through a temperature sensor 11 in such a way as it may be controlled to a cooking mode set by the cooking knob 15 and then a fire force is controlled by a calorie control part 35. Unless the mode is set any cooking mode, it may be displayed through a buzzer 13 or a lamp or the like.
