NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I [R1 and R2 are H, 1-4C alkyl, cyanoethyl, allyl, 3-4C alkoxyalkyl or benzyl; R3 and R4 are butyl or together form -(CH2)5, -(CH2)4- or -C2H4OC2H4-; R5 and R6 are H, Cl, methyl, methoxy, ethoxy, OH, nitro, acetylamino or group of formula II (R7 and R8 are methyl, ethyl, cyanoethyl, beta-chloroethyl or 3-4C alkoxyalkyl)]. EXAMPLE:The compound of formula III. USE:A color coupler for heat-sensitive recording material having excellent water- resistance. It is colorless in itself, but colors in dark red-bluish green color when contacted with a developer. PREPARATION:The objective compound can be produced by condensing 3- cyano-2-iminocoumarin compound of formula IV with the benzaldehyde compound of formula V and 1mol-equivalent of the secondary amine of formula VI in an alcohol.
