A device for adjustably fitting an encoder to a shaft of a rotatable body comprises a first inclined plate 11 and a second inclined plate 12 joined together rotatably between an encoder fitting surface and a fitting flange of the encoder. A contact surface between the two inclined plates is slightly inclined relative to a surface orthogonal to the axis of the shaft to which the encoder is to be fitted, while the remaining surfaces on the opposite side of each plate are orthogonal to the shaft aixs, so that the shaft of the rotatable body and a rotation shaft of the encoder are placed in parallel by adjustment of either or both of the inclined plates.
