PURPOSE:To improve the heat resistance and dimensional stability of an aromatic polysulfone resin without detriment to other properties, by irradiating the aromatic polysulfone resin with an ionizing radiation at a specified dose. CONSTITUTION:An aromatic polysulfone resin is irradiated with an ionizing radiation at a dose of 1-150Mrad. Examples of said ionizing radiations which can be mentioned include electron beams, alpha-rays, beta-rays and gamma-rays, and radioisotopes, electron beam accelerators, reactors, etc., can be used as radiation sources. Although the aromatic polysulfone resin is irradiated with an ionizing radiation after it is formed into films, injection moldings or the like, irradiation may be performed before molding when they are in the form of pellets or powder. As an atmosphere for irradiation, air or an inert gas such as nitrogen may be used. It is necessary that the temperature be kept below the softening point of the resin.
