The machine consists of a feed drum with horizontal shaft and a number of grooves holding straws; a cylindrical brush which rotates in the same direction as the drum; a carrying device with chains in closed parallel circuits, having fins to receive the straws; a beating system of horizontal roller pairs turning in the same direction and provided with projections and arms carrying articulations; a system for compressing and folding straw segments with roller pair turning in the same direction and provided with projections and arms carrying articulations; and toothed wheels for driving the chains.
