Thus, the original discriminating device 38 discriminates the size of the original and the method to place the original by the signal from the infrared ray sensor 37..., the original size in accordance with the discriminating result is displayed by an original size displaying device 34 and the method to place the original is displayed by an original placing method displaying device 35. Based upon the displaying, the operator sets the copying mode such as shrinking and expanding, a copying key is turned on, thereby, the corresponding copying is executed.
